Made in Italy

On the sole of every Aeyde shoe read the words: ‘Made In Italy’. To acknowledge the significance of this label, we regularly visit the Tuscan factories where our products are made to witness how each shoe is meticulously crafted. The longstanding tradition of shoemaking in Italy means that every Aeyde product is created with generations of leather specialist knowledge, and working with family-run factories that are committed to responsible production ensures that each collection is considerably made.

Sourcing

We are dedicated to superior quality and have a thorough approach to sourcing for every collection. To ensure transparency, fair working conditions and superior quality, we source all of our materials sustainably from their countries of origin via our select network of local suppliers in Europe. Each supplier is assessed against a range of criteria, including but not limited to: how they dispose of waste, how much energy they use, how sustainable they are, and if their materials are organic. Our tanneries operate according to European REACH legislation and are also part of the Leather Working Group (LWG)—a not-for-profit membership audit organization that awards certification based on the level of sustainability within the production process. In order to minimize waste overall, we only produce limited quantities of items, scoping out customer demand instead of overproducing.

Factories

We work solely with family-run factories in Italy—and by extension support local businesses and communities within the province. Fulfilling our responsibility to communities with such a rich history in shoemaking is vital to us—not only do they contribute to the local economy, but they also create employment opportunities for those living in and around the region. Our shoemakers’ craft has been perfected over generations, and this is reflected in every handmade Aeyde product. Their process is constantly reassessed to ensure a level of sustainability, down to the specific glue used or the recycled lasts, which are constantly melted down and reformed from previous productions.

Materials

Our core values prioritize processes that minimize social and environmental impact, such as utilizing leathers sourced from the European food industry and upcycled metals. A dedication to a superior product means that each material is sourced from the country that produces the highest quality while also being sustainable. The tanneries we work with operate according to European REACH legislation and are also part of the Leather Working Group (LWG)—a not-for-profit membership audit organization that awards certification based on the level of sustainability within the production process.

Care

We encourage customers to extend their product’s life cycle. By providing detailed care constructions, including spare heel plates whenever possible, and educating customers on local repair options, we promote responsible and conscious consumption.
